About DeckCalc
DeckCalc is a free, independent set of deck calculators. We built it to answer the questions homeowners and DIYers actually search for — “how much will my deck cost,” “how many boards do I need,” “how many bags of concrete” — without the bias you get from a tool run by a single decking brand or a contractor chasing a lead.
How our estimates work
Our cost figures are built from published 2026 national average prices for decking materials, framing, labor, railing, stairs, and permits, cross-checked against multiple industry sources. The board, footing, and stairs tools use standard building math — board coverage with a waste allowance, footing volume geometry, and stair rise/run calculations.
Because we’re not selling decking, we show ranges and let you compare materials side by side. The goal is an honest planning estimate, not a sales quote.
An important disclaimer
Every number on this site is a planning-level estimate. Real prices and quantities vary by region, contractor, design, and current material costs, and building requirements differ by jurisdiction. Always get local quotes and confirm your local building code before you buy materials or start construction. DeckCalc is not affiliated with any decking manufacturer.
How this site is funded
DeckCalc is free to use. To keep it that way, the site is supported by advertising. Ads never change the numbers our calculators produce.
